Accelerate up to just over 100 km/h (62 mph) and hold that speed. Brake straight after the tyre stacks and stop as quickly as possible without locking your wheels.
\
This will teach you how to do "threshold braking": Trying to get 100% stopping power you're at the threshold of wheel lockup, right on the edge. For a racing driver it is important to be able to slow down as fast as possible, to spend less time on the brakes but more time on the throttle.
\
- The ABS system is banned for most racing series, so you have to avoid locked wheels. A locked tyre loses about 30% of it's grip and you will need more time to stop.
- With locked wheels you will damage the surfaces of your tyres, by grinding the rubber off the spots in contact with the pavement, and get a so-called flatspot. These flatspots will slow you down massively during a race, the tyre may even blow in the worst case.
